Molly Green Takes on Vegas: A Behind-the-Scenes tale, To Market, To Market

Well, hello there, Brittany here. I'm writing from 35,000 feet as we fly home to Nashville via Southwest flight 2147. We're traveling back from our buying adventures in Sin City. A fashion industry conference is held in the desert at the Las Vegas Convention Center twice a year for the young, contemporary womenswear market and held by Magic Fashion Events. They also hold shows in Dallas, New York, Atlanta, and Nashville. We tend to be the Vegas/Atlanta/Nashville type buyers. This trip was the first time we've attended Vegas since 2020. Joining me were my coworkers Heather(merchandising), Kelsey(content and socials), my hubby Brandon(CEO), my parents(supportive), and our adorable 2-year-old son(Boss). Yep, you read that correctly—toddler in tow.
------ we have arrived -------
I'll tell you if you've ever wondered what it's like to be a buyer. It may be different from what you'd expect. It's primarily quick decisions. Tapping into your internal yes and no. Sticking to a budget(firstly understanding said budget), keeping yourself organized, and trying not to get overstimulated. Vegas is one of the most overwhelming shows to attend. It's a loud and bright environment, a vast fashion landscape to traverse, booth after booth of brands vying for your attention and business. And don't even get me started on the willpower it takes to (learn) not to stay out late. Hangovers are not ideal in this scenario. But let's start from the beginning. This time around, we stayed in an Airbnb off the strip. We had some trouble with our bookings this go round. Our first host canceled two weeks before our trip, and the home we checked into the first night had mold damage. While that may be a post for another day, I will never again book with a management company on Airbnb. They should stay in their lane. I move and second my motion to the Airbnb board of investors to ban management agencies from the app, effective immediately. Authentic hosts serve the company best.

We spent one night in less than desirable air quality -re-packed our suitcases for an unexpected relocation, and set out for our first day at the show. Our day starts around 6:30 am. We put ourselves together, eat a bite, kiss the toddler, and get out the door 8ish. A short car ride later, we oust ourselves out of a florally scented Uber at the convention center, ready to see what the day will bring. With coffee(matcha) in hand and excitement in our hearts, we don our badges and step onto the showroom floor. A maze of purple carpets guiding our path.

Picture this: row upon row of booths showcasing their upcoming season's offerings. Each booth is decorated differently, and visual storytelling abounds. It's as if Costco and Nordstrom had hundreds of babies, and they had a family reunion. Before the show, Heather prepared a vision board for the season. Clutching our printed PDF directive, christened Renegade Estate(a blog post for another day). We keep it close to our hearts, checking the color story often for clarity and consistency. If you fail to plan, plan to fail(dad quote). We touch hundreds of pieces of clothing a day. We are seeking soft fabrics, wearable styles, elevated basics, and standout pieces to complete your next season's wardrobe.

Let me warn you if you're still with me. Apparel buying is not for the faint of heart. Not only is it challenging to stay focused and avoid the dreaded decision fatigue, but your hands get dry. It's essential to bring hand lotion, wear comfortable shoes, and remain nourished. We grab lunch and discuss the needs and overages-taking time to outline details and categories we're still looking to fulfill and hit the floor for another 5 hours. A full day of "shopping." We're satisfied, exhausted, and ready for dinner and some RNR. At the end of day one, we Ubered over, settled into our second Airbnb of the trip, ordered takeout, and crashed. And each day is about the same. Coffee(matcha), buying, snacking, buying, dinner, Netflix, repeat. All with the exception of Wednesday-we took the toddler to the show. That was a different kind of day :)

We're not just shopping for clothes—we're curating a collection that will help you create styling perfection. It's all about making our customers feel amazing in what they wear. That's what Molly Green is all about.
And there you have it, a glimpse into our whirlwind trip to Vegas. Airbnb mishaps, adorable toddler shenanigans, and all the fashion finds you could imagine. It's been a wild ride, but we wouldn't have it any other way.

Until next time, stay stylish and adventurous; as always, shining bright!
