I “Megababed” & I Liked it!

I totally “Megababed”, while standing front row at CMA Fest this past weekend.

Before I explain what Megababe is, let’s start at the beginning. I haven’t worn shorts since 2013.

The thing is my thighs are deeply in love. They’re always touching. ALWAYS. And before #thighgapenvy was a legit thing, I experienced it.

It was 2000, I was in ballet class when I noticed that the other girls’ thighs didn’t touch when they stood in First Position. I immediately stopped what I was doing and I walked over to where I had laid my stuff, put my wrapped skirt back on, and resumed the movement. Later, I went home and looked through my mom’s magazines. Noticing that much like the other girls in my ballet class the models that graced these pages thighs didn’t touch either.

It’s insane really. I was one of the smallest/shortest girls in my grade and yet, my lack of “thin legs” plagued me. No one had to explain body shame to me. It was simply that at the young and tender age of 9, I didn’t see my body shape represented in the magazines around me. So I started to hide my legs.

I got older. I developed defined calf muscles thanks to my 8+ years of ballet. Later, in high school, my calf muscles were further developed because of 4 years in color guard (the girls with flags that perform with the marching band). I remember complaining about my legs and thighs at work one day when a co-worker told me, “You’re skinny, but you won’t hear me. One day you’ll look back on all this, including your high school body and you’ll realize that you’re skinnier than you realize and it won’t be until then that you appreciate the body you have now. Hopefully, it will make you appreciate the body you have then.”
Moi, age 8 in ballet.

Don’t get me wrong I love my body thighs and all, but self-love and self-acceptance is a battle that I choose to fight every day because it’s worth it. Ask yourself, “Who in this lifetime will you spend MORE time with than yourself?” I just wish someone had told me at any point that sometimes, REGARDLESS OF YOUR SIZE, your thighs touch and that is 10000000% OK.

So I talk A LOT. Especially regarding things about myself that may or may not be weird because I need to know if I’m the only one experiencing this, OR maybe there are other people out there dealing with the same weird shit, and then we’ll be less alone.

**To clarify, your thighs touching isn’t weird. It’s completely normal. I’m referring to things like the fact I’m not sure if my teeth are “sharp enough”.

So when I bite into the food I feel like I never get a clean break. The end result is I have to take multiple bites and I end up with like half a sandwich in my mouth, instead of a single bite like a normal person, but I digress.

I write all of this to say that thigh chafing was one of those things I talked a lot (and I do mean A LOT) about. Here are some of the things I tried:

-Deodorant: Just NO. It doesn’t work. Also, there are tons of chemicals in there that just shouldn’t be near your lady business.

-Lotion: See above answer. My outer thighs were hella soft, but the chafing on my inner thighs was brutal. It was like two cats fighting silently in a pencil skirt. No one won.

-Wearing Shapewear under all dress and skirts: I’m from Alabama and the last thing you’ll ever want to do in the summer in Alabama is put on even more clothes. To quote Melissa McCarthy in The Heat, “You got to ventilate down there.” Plus, there is nothing less fun than trying to be cute, while fighting your shapewear to just stay put.

-Numerous other things that are too long and exhausting to mention because they didn’t work.

It should be noted that I had long since given up on shorts because they:
a) Rode UP
b) Chaffed when they rode up
c) Further irritated my thighs when I pulled my shorts back down

It was a vicious cycle.

In 2014, I gave up on shorts, and started to avoid skirts, and dresses in general unless it was unavoidable or I could wear shapewear comfortably with it.

SO I “Megababed”, while standing front row at CMA Fest this past weekend.

What’s Megababe (MB)?? I’m glad you asked. It’s the whip to Indiana Jones on every adventure. The glass slipper in Cinderella’s story. The happily ever after for every girl who has ever struggled with thigh chafing and is in search of the ultimate thigh rescue.

It’s the reason why I’m back in jean shorts, skirts, and dresses.

Megababe’s Thigh Rescue Anti-Chafe Stick is the must-have beauty product you need this summer. Rachel Zoe once said, “Style is a way of saying who you are without having to speak.”  MB’s Thigh Rescue Stick has changed my summer style and as result, I have way more confidence. PLUS, the ingredients are all natural so it’s 100% safe to use on your body, which is extra-great if you have sensitive skin.

Megababe Founder, Katie Sturino (@the12ishstyle), who is out of this world stylish, developed this and other Megababe products to fill a massive need in the fashion & beauty industry because she got tired of not having a solution to this very real problem. So she made one herself! We can all take a page out of her book, if you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, be apart of the solutions.

Megababe’s other products include:

Bust Dust anti-boob-sweat spray

Yes, it does exactly what it sounds like it does. It the all-natural solution to fixing underboob sweat. For those of you who think, “I don’t really have that problem.” It’s not just for girls for with large busts. It’s for anyone who has ever experienced the uncomfortable sweat that rims the lower half of your bra when it’s a million degrees outside or after an intense workout.

Rosy Pits

It smells like roses. Like MB’s other products it’s 100% all natural and contains no aluminum and no parabens, which means it’s not an antiperspirant. For those unfamiliar, it means that it doesn’t stop you from sweating BUT it does stop the smell. For those concerned about the sweat, it can easily be combined with the Bust Dust.

This is not a sponsored post. If I’m fangirling hard about these products hard it’s because I believe in them, and if you, like me, are searching for a way to break out of your jeans, take back your summer outfit choices, and want to feel more confident in your skin then this is the product for you.

If you don’t want to take my word for it, read reviews for all the products on their website and social media!

I am also sharing this because at 27, I no longer believe that thigh gapping or lack thereof is about a weight. It’s about body shape. And bodies, any body, but especially your own should be loved.

Be bold. Be brave. Love yourself and your shape fiercely.
