Bright Lights: a collection for "It Girls" everywhere

Hi friends, we are always excited to release new collections at Molly Green. And, we have been working towards an upcoming release for months, curating our color story, collections, and content plans to coordinate with the drop. Today, we're revealing our latest collection, "Bright Lights". It's a collection of shiny, sparkly things. Pieces worthy of the exciting moments in your life. This collection will undoubtedly bring out your inner "It Girl." So today, on the blog, I'm diving into the "It Girl" concept and how your wardrobe choices can help you embody effortless, confident vibes. Explore the Bright Lights collection here.

 

Inspiration for the Bright Lights collection came from Heather and Kelsey's brains. If I remember correctly, they were having a drink at Lockland Table in February and texted me that they had solved next year's Holiday content planning. The best ideas happen that way-randomly. They made an inspo board on Pinterest, and it was official. At its inception, we called the collection City Girl—a nighttime shoot with city lights and neon signs of Lower Broadway in the background. The flash-style photos would highlight the sequins, velvet, and glitz. The collection  transporting you off your cozy couch to dinner with friends, holiday parties, concerts, and celebrations. The idea is that these pieces can take you through all your holiday events, and epic times ahead.  

 

As the release of this collection drew near, I realized we were curating a collection for the "it girl" in her most memorable moments—when you're not afraid to shine. 

So, you may ask, what's an "It Girl"?

 Well, think of it as a modern-day embodiment of timeless allure, charisma, and a touch of mystery. An "It Girl" effortlessly captures the essence of confidence and style wherever she goes.

But here's the catch - it's not about trying too hard. "It Girl" vibes stem from authenticity and a sense of self-assuredness. It's about being unapologetically you; obviously, fashion plays a significant role in expressing that individuality.

Dressing the "It Girl" Way

Now, let's get down to business. How can fashion and wardrobing help you channel your inner "It Girl"?

Our resident "It gal" and content/socials coordinator, Kelsey Wells, did an impromptu photo shoot with her cutie fiance, Max Demarco. They are darling- a real power couple. I got her to answer a few burning questions I had about her shoot and style.

 

Brittany: So, what's the story of Max taking your photos? Is he a Photographer too? 

 

Kelsey: Max picked up photography about two years ago. He usually does a lot of live photography on tour, but he also enjoys lifestyle. This shoot is his vibe. It's very dark and blue, so the abandoned gas station is right down the street from our house was perfect. We passed by it all the time, and he's like, 'let me take a picture there" and so I finally was like, OK!

 

Brittany: How did you feel in the outfits you styled for this shoot?

 

Kelsey: I felt expensive (she says with flair)-because it's not exactly what I would wear every day. I'm much more neutral of a human, but any sparkly "out-there", wild fur glittery kind of thing does feel like an alter ego. And she's got money. She's an it girl. She is fabulous. That's how I felt in the outfits I styled.

 

Brittany: How do you make outfits? Do you start with one piece or an overall vibe? What is your process?

 

Kelsey: I usually start with one piece out of my closet that is sticking out in my brain. Maybe it's a piece I haven't worn in a while or just one that I love, and I think is unique. It's usually pants that come into my brain. I have a lot of pants; I fell in love with pants two years ago. It's so random. Just the boldest pants I'm obsessed with, so it usually starts with my pants or an accessory. When I say accessory, I don't mean like jewelry; I mean I like chain belts, I love harnesses, corsets, specifically ones that go over the top of another shirt, mesh tops. That's usually where my brain goes to first because those pieces are that I don't think everybody has or knows how to style. I love puzzling them with other things in my closet. Mixing up different trends or vibes: I like mixing edgy with high fashion and girly. For example, I will wear a tight mini skirt but then put on an edgy big rock 'n' roll t-shirt with a corset over the top. I love that vibe. My friends say my style is 'edgy elegant.'
