My Favorite Teacher: Amber Leffew
We're introducing a new feature here on the Le Blog called, "My Favorite Teacher." In this feature, we want to highlight the teacher's in your community who go above and beyond. Recently, at Molly Green locations, we introduced our Teachers Appreciation discount. We want to celebrate the teachers in your community! The ones who inspire you and help you to become your best self. The ones that go the extra mile. There is so much to say about why we love teachers and why we're doing this, here's a little letter from Molly Green owner, Brittany Hartwell explain the WHY behind this:
You dear, sweet, precious, incredible, strong, patient humans play an essential role in our lives. You believe in us and cheer us on! You are our role models, friends, and cheerleaders. As a "grown-up", I see my best friend, who is a teacher, make so many personal sacrifices for her students and school. I know this is true for all of you and we want to say thank you! We see you! You're awesome! At Molly Green we give teachers 10% off every purchase. Just Present a valid teacher's ID at any of our 6 locations. Learn more about us and find a store online near you at www.shopmollygreen.com.
First off, tell us a little about yourself and your role at your school.
My name is Amber Leffew and I am a teacher of students with visual impairments (TVI). I have recently moved to Nashville with my small family and we couldn’t be happier. We moved to Nashville in order for me to pursue my master's degree in special education and Nashville just felt right for us! We love music, gardening, and of course shopping. I am so grateful to be a part of the teacher campaign with Molly Green, it’s been such a rewarding experience.
What made you want to become a teacher?
Surprisingly enough, the movie Matilda inspired me to become a teacher. Ms. Honey is the movie was kind, intelligent, and accepting of the challenges each student brought to the classroom. Years later I volunteered with various students with special needs and I immediately knew that if I didn’t pursue teaching in a special education setting I would regret it. All of my students have such beautiful minds, it just takes patience and creativity for them to show their knowledge.
What’s your favorite part about being a teacher?
My favorite part about being a teacher is the moment when the lightbulb comes on for my students. The moment when they understand a concept and a smile appears from ear to ear. That moment keeps me teaching every day.
Why do you think teachers play such an important part in our life?
Teachers play such an important role in our lives because every person I’ve met has had a teacher invest in them at some point. Many times, one teacher’s care and dedication can change the course of someone’s life.
How do you feel about Molly Green offering a 10% discount to all teachers indefinitely?
I think it is amazing that Molly Green offers an ongoing discount to teachers. It is a meaningful way for a successful business to recognize the work that teachers do, while offering a thoughtful discount. I am so grateful for being a part of this campaign and working with such an amazing company.
